Hidehiko Yuzaki, governor of Hiroshima Prefecture in Japan, and a 14-member contingent plan to visit Hilo today for a ceremonial tree planting at Liliuokalani Gardens. The tree planting is part of celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the East Hawaii Hiroshima Kenjin Kai.

The planting of a black pine is scheduled for 9 a.m.

Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim said the tree planting ceremony “will help foster our Sister State relationship with Hiroshima Prefecture.”
