Halau I Ka Leo Ola o Na Mamo, under the direction of kumu hula Kekoa and Pele Harmon, will perform from 5-6 p.m. on First Friday, May 5, at the Mokupapapa Discovery Center, 76 Kamehameha Ave., Hilo.

Admission to the museum is free. The public is invited to explore the exhibits and enjoy the program presented by Destination Hilo, which promotes Hawaiian culture through special events.

The students of Halau I Ka Leo Ola O Na Mamo come from the Hawaiian language immersion school Ke Kula o Nawahiokalaniopuu in Keaau. They have performed at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and other venues.

Along with music and hula, the First Friday event will include a cultural workshop on the art of making lei la‘i with Ola Jenkins.
