Want to learn the beginning or finer points of volleyball from a virtual BIIF girls all-star team?
Saturday is your chance. The Pi’opi’o Bears Ku’Ikaika 17s will hold a clinic at Hilo Armory for ages 6 and up.
The cost is $30 per player.
The first session is for ages 6-9 and runs from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., and players will learn basic skills (serving, passing, setting, spiking), positive attitude, goal setting/mental toughness, and participate in a mini-tournament, according to a release.
The second session is for ages 10 and up and runs from 1:30-6 p.m., and players will learn advanced techniques (serving, passing/digging, setting, spiking, blocking), positive attitude/mental toughness, goal setting, then separate by desired position, according to a release.
All funds raised will be used for the team’s travel expenses to compete in the AAU national championships in Orlando, Fla., in June.
The Pi’opi’o Bears Ku’Ikaika 17s feature co-BIIF Division I Players of Year Jordan Hayashi of Waiakea and Hilo’s Kawai Ua as well as first-team selections Alexus Paglinawan and Kailee Kurokawa, both of Hilo. Also on the team are Hilo’s Chasati Babagay and Alyah Cortez, Waiakea’s Ui Hanohano and Anela Navor and Hawaii Prep’s Madi Lee.
