For the fourth baseball game in a row, UH-Hilo outhit Concordia, but for the fourth consecutive outing the Eagles scored more runs, sweeping the Vulcans with a 14-6 win Monday afternoon in Irvine, Calif.

Concordia improved to 7-5 in the Pacific West Conference with the win and moved to 10-13 overall. UH Hilo fell to 3-7 in PWC play and to 3-9 on the year.

The Eagles settled matters early today, scoring eight runs in the first inning. They rattled off five hits against two Vulcan pitchers, and also took advantage of two walks, a hit batter, a wild pitch and a UHH error. The Eagles would add another four runs in the sixth inning, taking a 13-2 lead that was too much to overcome for the Vulcans.

UH Hilo had 12 hits in the game (Concordia had 11), four of them by junior first baseman Phillip Steering. He went 4-for-4 with a double and scored three times. Kamalu Kamoku, starting for just the second time this season as the designated hitter, had a pair of hits including a home run and knocked in two runs. Marcus Calamese had two base knocks, including a double.

Kamehameha graduate Brandyn Lee-Lehano (0-3), a freshman, took the loss, allowing a hit and two walks and failing to record and out in the first.
