The University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team saw several come to an end Friday in a 28-26, 25-18, 25-20 loss at No. 3 BYU in Provo, Utah.

The Rainbow Warriors (20-3, 10-3 MPSF) had a 15-match win streak halted in addition to a 32-set win streak and 10-match Mountain Pacific Sports Federation win streak. UH also lost for the 14th straight time in Provo.

Opposite Stijn van Tilburg led the Rainbow Warriors with a match-high 16 kills, hitting .344. Outside hitter Kupono Fey added 10 kills while middle blocker Hendrik Mol tallied five kills and four blocks.

No. 4 UH entered the match ranked third nationally in hitting percentage, but it hit a season-low .188. The nation’s leader in blocking also produced only four team blocks, compared to 12 for the Cougars.

No. 3 BYU (18-2, 12-1) was led by Brenden Sander (14) and Jake Langlois (13), who combined for 27 of the team’s 43 kills, while hitting .440 and .450, respectively. The Cougars hit .440.

Baseball ‘Bows fall again

Craig Dedelow homered to produce the go-ahead run in the 11th, and Austin Cangelosi tacked on a two-run triple for his fourth hit as Indiana beat Hawaii for the third consecutive game, winning 8-5 in Honolulu.

The Rainbow Warriors (10-8) tied the game in the ninth on Dylan Vchulek’s two-run single with one out, but Dustin Demeter lined into a double play to send the game to extra innings.

The Hoosiers (9-7-1) knocked out starter Neil Uskali in the fifth. In 4 2/3 innings, Uskali yielded nine hits, five runs and three walks with six strikeouts. Brody Hagel-Pitt (0-1) took the loss in relief.

Eric Ramirez hit a home run with a runner aboard in the sixth to start UH’s comeback, and Johnny Weeks was 3 for 5 with an RBI double.
