The Big Island Retired Military Association will award a $2,000 scholarship to a qualified 2017 high school graduate.

The Big Island Retired Military Association will award a $2,000 scholarship to a qualified 2017 high school graduate.

The award is given each year to a Hawaii County high school senior who:

• Is a child of an active duty, reserve, National Guard or retired military member of the U.S. armed forces.

• Is a child of an honorably discharged military veteran who was awarded a service-connected disability rating.

• Has completed at least two years in a Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps or Civil Air Patrol program at the time of application.

• Or is a current member of the Guard or reserve.

Applications are due March 31.
