Alfred Bonga, 74, of Honolulu died Feb 4. in Las Vegas. Born in Hilo, he was an able seaman and U.S. Navy veteran. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Thursday, March 16, at Ballard Family Moanalua Mortuary in Honolulu. Survived by wife, Julie; daughters, Robin and Charlene; brother, Leroy; sisters, Norma Caravalho, Elaine Baltero and Pauline Efhan; five grandchildren.

Susan “Susie” Kathleen Francis, 68, of Waikoloa died Feb. 18 at home. Born in Los Angeles, she was an operations manager for First Hawaiian Bank Waikoloa branch and former teller for First Hawaiian Bank Kailua-Kona branch. Private services. Survived by husband, Dave Francis of Waikoloa; sons, Kevin Francis of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Jeff Francis of Corona, Calif.; mother, Martha Ruiz of Irvine, Calif.; brother, Mo Sim of Huntington Beach; four grandchildren. Robert McBurney Kempa, 92, of Naalehu died Feb. 3 at home. Born in Harbin, China, he was a Kona coffee farmer, worked for the University of Hawaii at Manoa in the Mechanical Engineering Department, witnessed the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor, volunteered in recovery efforts and was a Merchant Marine during World War II. Memorial service noon Friday, March 3, at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. Celebration of life and potluck 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at 94-1527 Kaalualu Road in Waiohinu.
