Great care

Great care

I totally disagree with the negative article that reporter Jeff Hansel wrote in the Tribune-Herald, dated Wednesday, Dec. 28.

I strongly think before publishing such harsh judgments he should have done an investigation a lot more further.

I just was released from Legacy on Dec. 13 and I was in rehabilitation for six weeks there. I was treated like a king. The staff — from housekeepers to the top administrator — is so well-qualified! Whoever gave you that information probably had a bad day.

When I entered Legacy, I could not walk at all. The physical therapist and occupational therapist worked their tails off, and in six weeks I’m walking all around, even in Wal-Mart now. All personnel never called me Mr. Souza (like a bunch of stiff coats, if you go elsewhere). Everyone called me Uncle Eddie or Papa Eddie.

If you want to experience loving professional rehabilitation or long-term care, check out the Legacy Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Kaumana Drive in Hilo.

Successful sale

Many thanks to the faithful customers who braved the heavy downpour to make our annual poinsettia sale a success!

Without your support and the publicity coverage by the Tribune-Herald on Nov. 29, our financial goal would not have been met.

A portion of the sales will be used to support the Teacher Education Program at the University of Hawaii at Hilo’s College of Education by the Hawaii Island Retired Teachers Association.

I look forward to seeing you again at next year’s poinsettia event, rain or shine!
