The Warriors outscored the Vikings 24-13 in the fourth quarter and pulled away for a 60-49 win in a BIIF Division I showdown on Monday night at Koaia Gym.

Nalu Kahapea scored a game-high 18 points to lead Kamehameha (3-1), which has another tough opponent on tap.

Isaac Liu scored 17 points to lead Hilo (2-2).

The Warriors have a monster matchup with Konawaena (3-0) visiting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Koaia Gym.

The outright BIIF regular season champion earns the first berth to the HHSAA state tournament.

Kona’s schedule keeps getting tougher, picking up wins over St. Joseph and Laupahoehoe last month. The Wildcats beat Hilo 62-32 last Friday at the Vikings Gym.

In that game, Austin Aukai led the way with 15 points, and the Wildcat defense forced 27 Viking turnovers for a 22-2 scoring edge.

Kamehameha and Konawaena share a bit of history, too.

Last season in the BIIF championships, Austin Ewing hit the game-winner, and the Wildcats eliminated the Warriors 44-42.

Javan Perez and Dylan Ngango Dikobo scored 10 points each, and Hawaii Prep beat Pahoa 63-24 in a BIIF Division II game on Monday night.

Matija Vitorovic added nine points, Jonah Hurney seven, and Umi Kealoha six points on a pair of 3-pointers for Ka Makani (1-1), who led 38-13 at halftime.

Jaymin Santiago-Burns scored eight points, including two 3-balls, and Damon Romero had six for the Daggers (1-3).
