A 34-year-old diver died, presumably by drowning, Saturday afternoon of Kohanaiki-Ooma beach, north of the “Pine Trees” surf break in North Kona.

A 34-year-old diver died, presumably by drowning, Saturday afternoon of Kohanaiki-Ooma beach, north of the “Pine Trees” surf break in North Kona.

Six fire units, plus a Coast Guard cutter and helicopter and two jet skis, responded to the search for the man, who went diving alone and was reported overdue shortly before 3:30 p.m.

The man’s body was found along the shoreline, according to a written Hawaii County Fire Department Release.

The victim’s identity was not released.
