January marks Hawaii Island’s eighth annual Volcano Awareness Month.

Scientists from the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory and University of Hawaii will offer volcano-focused talks around the island throughout the month, such as the one featured in the story above about the geology of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea along the saddle.
