Fire destroyed a vacant house in a remote location mauka of Hilo on Thursday night, according to the Hawaii Fire Department.

Fire destroyed a vacant house in a remote location mauka of Hilo on Thursday night, according to the Hawaii Fire Department.

Eight units responded to the 8:15 p.m. alarm at 100 Kulaniapia Road, according to a written statement. The first unit arrived at 8:38 p.m. to find the structure fully engulfed in flames.

The fire was reported under control at 9:07 p.m. and extinguished at 9:15 p.m.

There was no estimate of property damage and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
