Keaau town was aglow and the streets were lined with the shining faces of the community to delight during the 13th annual Keaau Village Lighted Christmas Parade.

Keaau town was aglow and the streets were lined with the shining faces of the community to delight during the 13th annual Keaau Village Lighted Christmas Parade.

The theme the entrants were judged on this year was “Local Kine Christmas.” The five judges also scored the entrants for originality, spirit and attractiveness. The grand marshals this year were the Men of Pa‘a, who led the pack of floats, marching bands, cars and big rigs.

Before the parade began, the crowd was entertained by four groups of carolers who spread Christmas joy throughout the route. “Local Kine” Santa closed the parade with his many elves from Keaau High School.

The parade is hosted by the Keaau Christmas Parade Committee with the help of many sponsors who make this community event possible. Anyone interested in being part of the team or to learn more, call the WH Shipman office at 966-9325 or visit the committee’s Facebook page.
