The Arc of Hilo received $30,000 in operating support from the Robert Emens Black Fund and the East Hawaii Fund, both of which participated in the Hawaii Community Foundation Flex Grant Program.

These funding sources have been important supporters of the Arc’s mission throughout its 60-year history of service to people with developmental and physical disabilities.

“Speaking on behalf of our board of directors, our staff, our volunteers, and the participants we serve, I am grateful to the Hawaii Community Foundation and its funding partners for this generous gift,” said Arc CEO Debbie Perkins. “The innovative flex grants program offers a critical source of unrestricted operating support for our core mission.”

Perkins said the funds will help efforts to maintain a diversified funding base to sustain its operations and explore new opportunities.
