Hawaii Island’s state senators will lead three committees in the 2017 legislative session.

Hawaii Island’s state senators will lead three committees in the 2017 legislative session.

Sen. Kai Kahele, D-Hilo, was selected as Higher Education chairman and Education vice chairman.

Sen. Josh Green, D-Kona, Ka’u, will lead Human Services, while Sen. Lorraine Inouye, D-North Hawaii, was picked for the Transportation and Energy chairmanship.

Sen. Russell Ruderman, D-Puna, was selected as vice chairman of the Government Operations Committee.

Sen. Ronald Kouchi, D-Kauai, will remain Senate president.
