For those wanting to add a festive touch to the holiday season, local folks once again can decorate their homes, business offices and churches with bright and beautiful poinsettias from Hilo resident Michie Kuwaye’s annual poinsettia plant sale.

The seasonal plants can be purchased from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 2-6 at Kuwaye’s residence, 264 Nohea St.

The popular 6-inch pots in varied colors and variety will be on sale for $7. The 8-inch pots will sell for $14 and the 2-gallon bushes are priced at $26.

A portion of the proceeds help fund the Hawaii Island Retired Teachers Association’s Teacher Education Program for the University of Hawaii at Hilo School of Education.

“It’s my contribution to the teachers,” said Kuwaye, who has hosted the poinsettia sale for more than 15 years.

To place an order, call Kuwaye at 989-1495.
