Marley Strand-Nicolaisen

Marley Strand-Nicolaisen

Sport: volleyball

There was little surprise that the UH-Hilo senior and Ka‘u graduate went out with a bang on the volleyball court.

On Saturday, Strand-Nicolaisen slammed a career-high 31 kills against BYU-Hawaii in her final college match, thrilling the Vulcans faithful, even in defeat.

On Monday, Strand-Nicolaisen was named PacWest Player of The Week, and the honors really started pouring in Tuesday: she was named national Player of the Week and, best all, Strand-Nicolaisen was voted first-team all-PacWest, the first Vulcan to earn the accolade since Hillary Hurley in 2011.
