Underdog Vuls take on big brother UH

Underdog Vuls take on big brother UH

When the UH-Hilo men’s basketball team plays big brother UH-Manoa, a lopsided loss is usually the result.

The Rainbow Warriors (2-2) are undefeated in eight previous meetings and have beaten the Division II Vuls (1-2) by an average margin of 25.4 points.

UH will play three games in a six-day stretch, starting with UH-Hilo, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The game will be broadcast live on OCSports, channel 16. It will also be aired on KHLO AM 850 radio.

The matchup marks the fifth regular-season meeting in the last six years between the ‘Bows and the Vuls, who lost 86-67 last year.

UH next hosts Troy on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving and Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sunday, Nov. 27. Both games will be on OCSports.

The budget-conscious Vuls, who offer 6.1 scholarships out of a possible 10, won’t play any games during the holidays. Their next game is Nov. 30 at Chaminade, which hosts the Maui Invitational.

Eran Ganot is in his second season at UH (30-8). GE Coleman is in his fourth season at UHH (29-50).

In her final match against the Seasiders, she hit .346 and also had a team-best 16 digs in the match.

The 2013 Ka’u graduate ranked third this season in the PacWest in kills per set (4.34). She finished with 1,241 career kills as a four-year starter for the Vulcans. She was the only UHH player this season to earn PacWest Player of the Week honors.
