Beginning Saturday, Volcano Art Center presents a continuing series of free Zentangle classes at Volcano Art Center Gallery in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

The monthly offerings are from 10-11 a.m. Saturday and Dec. 10, Jan. 14 and Feb. 11.

Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.

“If you can draw a dot, a line, a curved line and a circle you can create Zentangle art,” says Lois Stokes, certified Zentangle teacher.

The offerings will include a one-hour demonstration on the porch of VAC gallery. Supplies of Zentangle tiles, pens and pencils will be provided — basically everything you need to get started.

Basic techniques of tangling (drawing patterns) will be covered and participants will create at least one and possibly more works of Zentangle art.
