Marilyn Jenkins Christensen, 97, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 19 at Hospice of Kona Nakamaru Hale. Born in San Francisco, she was a retired vice chancellor of student affairs at the University of California-Davis and member of Dance Hawaii Lanakila Congregational Church, where she served as pianist for many years. Memorial service Sunday, Nov. 27, at 11 a.m. at Lanakila Congregational Church in Kainaliu. Fellowship to follow in the church hall. Casual attire; no flowers. Memorial donations to Hospice of Kona. Survived by daughter, Lynne Christensen of Kailua-Kona; a grandson and a great-granddaughter. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Kawika Kekoa Paul, 33, of Hilo died Nov. 3. Born in Arizona, he was a heavy equipment operator for Isemoto Contracting Co. Private services. Gary Steven Safarik, 67, of Keaau died Oct. 28 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Honolulu, he was president and owner of Western Pacific Communication and Electronics and a former Hawaii County councilman representing Puna.
