Richard Robert Risley, 75, of Pahoa died Oct. 11 at home. Born in Mitchel Field, N.Y., he was a retired ironworker; U.S. Navy veteran who served as a radioman, and later a highly certified ham radio operator (call sign WV6K); an award-winning member of the California Bowhunters and life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1383 of Klamath Falls, Ore. Survived by daughter, Bonnie (Dave) Rodriguez of Colorado; sisters, Morgan Sky of Pahoa, Ramona (Leon) Chow of Kapapala Ranch, Ka‘u; one grandson; cousins, two nieces and one nephew. The late David Kaiwi was survived by, among others, daughter, Kimberly (Stephanis) Ifenuk and sister Eva Miyahira of Maui. Their names were misspelled in an obituary published Tuesday.
