Jes and Christopher McCormick announce the opening of their new business in Downtown Hilo, Saucy Dogs.

Located on Furneaux Lane, the gourmet hot dog shop is next to Moonstruck Patisserie and joins other favorite downtown eateries on the block.

Saucy Dogs serves all-beef dogs with unusual and unique toppings. A house favorite is the Mac Attack, smothered with house-made macaroni and cheese and bacon, with the option to go “all-out” with an upgrade to the quarter pound, all-beef dog.

Next in popularity is the Kalua Pork Dog — kalua pig on top with a choice of one of many sauces.

The McCormicks recently moved to Hilo from Portland, Ore., with the desire to combine their own off-the-wall ideas with an American classic.

“We wanted to create something that can be enjoyed by everyone, and to be a part of downtown’s revival of fun and fabulous restaurants, cafes and food trucks,” Jes McCormick said.

Saucy Dogs is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, and for all downtown events.
