A new wellness conference will take place beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Aging and Disability Resource Center, 1055 Kinoole St. in Hilo.

A new wellness conference will take place beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Aging and Disability Resource Center, 1055 Kinoole St. in Hilo.

The following is the conference presentation schedule and speakers:

• 9-10 a.m., Dr. William Herrera will talk about dementia and its stages, symptoms and treatments.

• 10:30-11:30 a.m., Martha Khlopin from Oahu will discuss Medicare. Khlopin hosts a weekly radio show, “A Medicare Moment with Martha” and a weekly program on Olelo community television of the same name.

• Noon-1 p.m., attorney Alan Okamoto will focus on legal affairs, including advance health care directives, and answer questions.

• 1:30-2:30 p.m., Chris Ridley, Alzheimer’s Association, will present “Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body.”

“For centuries, it’s been known the health of the brain and body are connected,” Ridley said. “But now, science is able to provide insights into how to optimize physical and cognitive health as we age.”
