Astrid Perez, the UH-Hilo junior midfielder who was taken off the field and to the hospital by an EMS van in Thursday’s game at Paiea Stadium, was released from the hospital later that night, according to UHH trainers.

Astrid Perez, the UH-Hilo junior midfielder who was taken off the field and to the hospital by an EMS van in Thursday’s game at Paiea Stadium, was released from the hospital later that night, according to UHH trainers.

Perez suffered a concussion when she took a hard foul from a Dixie State player and fell awkwardly on her shoulders and neck. She lay motionless on the field, attended to by trainers from both teams until the van arrived 12 minutes later.

She is expected to have a full recovery.
