Hilo Toastmaster excels at contest

Hilo Toastmaster Cary Deringer took first place against four contestants at the Division C Humorous Speech Contest on Oct. 8 on Oahu.

Deringer will represent Big Island Toastmaster clubs on Oct. 29 at the Fall 2016 District Conference at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki.

The title of her five- to seven-minute humorous speech is “The Perils of Parallel Parking.”

“Cary is a lively, confident speaker,” says Area 12 director Tracy Hedgecock, “and we know she will represent Big Island Toastmasters with spunk.”
