Wailoa Center is presenting an exhibit by Raiatea Arcuri, a young, emerging artist and photographer, titled “Moments of Beauty” starting today and running through Oct. 27 in the Fountain Gallery.

Wailoa Center is presenting an exhibit by Raiatea Arcuri, a young, emerging artist and photographer, titled “Moments of Beauty” starting today and running through Oct. 27 in the Fountain Gallery.

An artist reception is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. today. This free, public exhibit is in conjunction with the Big Island Ukulele Guild and Woodworkers Exhibit in the Main Gallery.

Arcuri is a nature photographer born and raised on the Big Island. The self-taught Arcuri started photography three years ago and quickly found a passion for capturing images of nature.

Besides nature photography, he also does portraits, weddings and real estate photography, and attends Hawaii Community College.

“Photography has changed my perspective of the world,” Arcuri says. “Being able to preserve a moment in time brings me fulfillment. Each one of my photographs is carefully composed and processed in the digital darkroom to create my vision of the Big Island.”

Wailoa Center is a Division of State Parks, Department of Land and Natural Resources. Admission is free. The center is open to the public 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday For the month of October, the Wailoa Center will be open noon-3 p.m. Saturdays for Big Island Ukulele Guild special events.
