Lot Loka Akina Jr., 79, of Mountain View died Aug. 25 at home. Born in Halawa, Molokai, he was a retired roofer and U.S. Marine Corps Reserve veteran. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 1) at Glad Tidings Church, 113 Kuawa St., Hilo. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Luncheon to follow. Aloha attire. Rudolph “Rudy” Albert Calicdan Sr., 73, of Pahoa, died Aug. 23 at home. Born on Oahu, he was a laborer for the former Hawaii Sugar Plantation Association, U.S. Navy veteran and member of Apostles Motorcycle Club and former member of Alii Motorcycle Club. Visitation 6-9 p.m. Friday (Sept. 30) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Celebration of life at 7 p.m. Visitation again 9-10 a.m. on Saturday (Oct. 1) at the mortuary. Genevieve Badua, 77, of Hilo died Sept. 3 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Honomu, she was a homemaker. Services held. Cheryl Elizabeth Cutler, 64, of Keaau died Sept. 9 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Fall River, Mass., she was a licensed practical nurse. Memorial services at a later date. Tranquilino “Kia” Ulita Fronda Jr., 71, of Waipio Valley died Sept. 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a Hawaiian cultural practitioner, taro and floral farmer, University of Hawaii at Manoa graduate, haumana of Halau O Kekuhi who served numerous functions in the halau, kumu of AHHH Hula Halau of Waipio Valley, hula ‘olapa and ho‘opa‘a with E Ho’ohawai’i Kakou, master lauhala weaver, mixed media artist, chef and connoisseur, past board member of Friends of the Future, past president of Waipio Valley Taro Farmer’s Association, QLCC and other community agencies and organizations. Visitation 8 a.m.-noon on Sunday (Oct. 2) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Service at 9 a.m. Aloha or casual attire.
