The College of Continuing Education and Community Service at the University of Hawaii at Hilo is hosting a series of classes about how to care for urban and residential trees.

The College of Continuing Education and Community Service at the University of Hawaii at Hilo is hosting a series of classes about how to care for urban and residential trees.

Sessions will be conducted from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday and Aug. 29 and Sept. 6, 12, 19 and 26 in UH-Hilo’s UCB Room 104 and conclude with a field demonstration Oct. 1. Tuition is $150.

Arboriculture Awareness: Best Practices to Care for Trees will be taught by Brendon Few, a certified arborist who has practiced arboriculture for the past seven years and owns a tree maintenance company on Hawaii Island.

The course is designed to provide homeowners and tree care professionals with in-depth knowledge on following proper care and safety measures when working in and around trees. Few also will provide instruction on risk management, safe practices, communicating with tree care professionals, understanding arboriculture and tree biology.
