The League of Women Voters and the American Association of University Women Hilo Chapter are sponsoring Hawaii County’s final and most comprehensive moderated mayoral candidate forum from 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Aunty Sally Kaleohano’s Luau Hale in Hilo.

The League of Women Voters and the American Association of University Women Hilo Chapter are sponsoring Hawaii County’s final and most comprehensive moderated mayoral candidate forum from 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Aunty Sally Kaleohano’s Luau Hale in Hilo.

All 13 mayoral candidates were invited to participate or display their literature and share their vision and plans for the County of Hawaii. The event is free and open to the public. Sherry Bracken of Mahalo Multimedia will serve as forum moderator. The forum also will be streamed live by Hawaii 24/7 at www.hawaii247.com/live.

Confirmed on-stage candidate panelists will include: Alvin Akina of Kailua-Kona, Paul Bryant of Papaaloa, Marlene Hapai of Kurtistown, Pete Hoffman of Waikoloa, Wendell Ka‘ehu‘ae‘a of Hilo, Harry Kim of Hilo, Wally Lau of Kailua-Kona, Shannon McCandless of Waimea, Gene Tamashiro of Hilo, Timothy Waugh of Hilo and Eric Drake Weinert Jr. of Papaikou.

Chili and rice (meat and vegetarian varieties) will be for sale from 4-6 p.m. as a dinner option from Hope Services Resource Center.

No candidate shirts or signs are permitted for this event at Aunty Sally’s, located at 799 Piilani St.
