In response to a 10 p.m. call reporting a fight on Hema Street in Lanakila Housing, officers encountered a 16-year-old boy with injuries. He was taken to Hilo Medical Center, where he was treated for head and body injuries and then released at 1 a.m. Tuesday .
Two Hilo men, 19-year-old William Fuiava and 18-year-old Tyhron Kopura, were arrested and taken to the Hilo police cellblock while detectives investigated.
At 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, police charged both men with second-degree assault and a liquor violation involving a minor. Bail was set at $2,000 each.
Both men remained at the cellblock until their initial court appearances Wednesday.
