Kohala High is accepting applications for the following coaching positions:

• Boys and girls cross-country

• Girls varsity basketball

• Varsity softball

Applications can be picked up at the school’s main office, and the deadline to apply is July 31.

Sunrise Athletics registration

Sunrise Athletics is accepting registration for the fall cross-country season for grades 2-8

According to a release, participants can build confidence, conditioning, stamina and overall strength.

Waimea biddy basketball slated

Waimea Athletics is accepting biddy basketball registrations until Aug. 11 for ages 5-6 and 7-8.

The fee is $25 per person and includes uniform, 8-by-10 league photo and team equipment.

Biddy basketball camp in Hilo

The Big Island All-Stars will hold a Biddy Basketball Camp from 9 a.m.-noon July 30-31 at Andrews Gym.

The camp is for children who will be entering kindergarten through the third grade (beginning 9-year-olds will beaccepted).

Registration begins July 30 at 8 a.m., the cost is $40 (T-shirt included) and walk-ins will be accepted.

UH-Hilo challenge set for Aug. 27

The annual ‘Aha Pai‘ea Keiki Sports Challenge is slated for Aug. 27 at the University of Hawaii at Hilo athletic complex.

Hosted by the UH-Hilo Vulcans athletic Department and the Vulcan Booster Club, the challenge runs from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. and is free and limited to the first 120 children ages 7-12 to register.

Lunch, beverages and a T-shirt will be provided.

Participants need to be prepared for vigorous physical activity and should bring a water bottle, running shoes and wear comfortable attire. Various activities are scheduled in baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball.
