Keaau football tryouts Monday

Keaau High School will be holding football tryouts/conditioning at the high school field, starting Monday.

Practices will start daily from 2:30-5 p.m. until the start of school.

Meet at the stadium and bring comfortable shoes/cleats and clothing for practice.

All incoming students interested in participating must have a current physical on file in the athletic office prior to participating.

UH-Hilo challenge set for Aug. 27

The annual ‘Aha Pai‘ea Keiki Sports Challenge is slated for Aug. 27 at the University of Hawaii at Hilo athletic complex.

Hosted by the UH-Hilo Vulcans athletic Department and the Vulcan Booster Club, the challenge runs from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. and is free and limited to the first 120 children ages 7-12 to register.

Lunch, beverages and a T-shirt will be provided.

Participants need to be prepared for vigorous physical activity and should bring a water bottle, running shoes and wear comfortable attire. Various activities are scheduled in baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball.

Biddy Basketball Camp in Hilo

The Big Island All-Stars will hold a Biddy Basketball Camp from 9 a.m.-noon June 30-31 at Andrews Gym.

The camp is for children who will be entering kindergarten through the third grade (beginning 9-year-olds will be accepted).

Registration begins July 30 at 8 a.m., the cost is $40 (T-shirt included) and walk-ins will be accepted.
