Just in time for a “pawsome” Father’s Day, the Hawaii Island Humane Society will host two pet adoption events Saturday with special rates to encourage the public to adopt, not shop.

The fun kicks off at 8 a.m. at the Summer Subaru Hawaii Pet Adoption Day at Hawaii Island Humane Society’s Keaau Shelter. The $40 special rate for dog adoptions and $10 special rate for cat adoptions include spay/neuter service, microchipping and a health check. A Subaru vehicle will be parked at the Keaau Shelter and everyone is encouraged to help “Fill the Forester” with donations of animal treats, pet beds, towels, pet toys and pet food for shelter use. All adopters also will receive a pet goody bag that includes Subaru items.

“We want Big Island residents to know that every adoption is meaningful, and through the generosity of private donors we are able to offer these special values,” said Donna Whitaker, Hawaii Island Humane Society executive director. “Subaru Hawaii has made the Keaau event even more special by underwriting adoption fees for all Subaru owners.”

Meanwhile, the excitement continues from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Captain Cook at the third annual mobile adoption event at ChoiceMart in the Kealakekua Ranch Center The same special Hawaii Island Humane Society values apply for $40 dog adoptions and $10 cat adoptions. In addition, attendees will enjoy a pet kissing booth and humane education for keiki.
