Puukohola Heiau National Historic Site will host its annual Pacific Islander Heritage Day event from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. May 18 at the park’s visitor center.

Park Superintendent Daniel Kawaiaea said this free public event celebrates the unique traditional cultures of the Pacific island regions. There will be various cultural demonstrations, hands-on crafts, games, dance, music, lectures, traditional weapon displays and more.

The event is sponsored by Hawai‘i Pacific Parks Association and the Royal Order of Kamehameha-Kohala Chapter.

Kawaiaea said the event also is in observance of National Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, being observed throughout May.
