Kickboxing event on Saturday at Hilo Civic

Man Up Stand Up will hold an amateur kickboxing card at 7 p.m. Saturday at Hilo Civic. It’s the first time the Oahu promotion is hosting an event at a neighbor island. Adults and youngsters will be on the card.

There will be a 125-pound four-man tournament for the promotion’s title. Each contender will fight twice on the night. There are 22 bouts with five fighters from Oahu and the majority from Hilo and Kona.

Tickets, $20 for general seating, are available at CD Wizard or by calling Lloyd at 990-3332.

Vul golfers earn PacWest third-team honors

UH-Hilo golfer Kristen Sawada capped her four-year career as a third-team all-PacWest selection.

This past season, Sawada, from Mililani, played in nine tournaments with four Top-10 finishes, including ninth at the PacWest Championship.

During her career, Sawada had 16 Top-10 finishes in 39 tournaments.

UHH’s Kyeton Littel and Jared Kinoshita were third-team all-PacWest selections as voted upon by conference coaches.

Littel, a senior from Maui, finished tied for 34th in the PacWest Championship. He earned first-team PacWest honors in 2013-14.

Kinoshita, a freshman from Bakersfield, Calif., won the 4-team Hawaii Challenge in April. He finished 34th at this year’s PacWest Championship.

Kurokawa named PacWest pitcher of week

UHH senior Jordan Kurokawa was selected the PacWest co-Pitcher of the Week following a 3-0 one-hitter against Hawaii Pacific on Saturday.
