Missing extended furlough inmate Michael Joyce turned himself in to police early Tuesday morning.

Joyce, who Department of Public Safety officials say failed to report for his scheduled check-in April 6, was returned to Hawaii Community Correctional Center at 2:20 a.m.

Convicted of felony assault, Joyce is classified as community custody, the lowest custody level. Escape is expected to be added to his charges. His next parole hearing was scheduled for next month.
