A 30-year-old Hilo man is in custody after allegedly stealing a semi-truck and trailer Wednesday evening and hitting at least one vehicle and a house.

A 30-year-old Hilo man is in custody after allegedly stealing a semi-truck and trailer Wednesday evening and hitting at least one vehicle and a house.

Police say Solomon Aloha Kepano was arrested after being restrained by “several individuals” as he was walking way from the wreck.

He allegedly stole the white Freightliner and white container trailer from a business on Makaala Street and later collided with a vehicle, ran another off the road, and struck a house on Pilipaa Street.

There were no injuries.

Kepano was arrested on suspicion of first-degree theft, fourth-degree theft, third-degree criminal property damage, accident involving damage to a vehicle or property and two counts of first-degree reckless endangering.
