Cristina Menjivar captured the University of Hawaii at Hilo’s first PacWest Softball Player of the Week honor with a powerful performance against Dominican University.

The junior first baseman slammed three home runs in the doubleheader split, finishing she was 4-for-6 with five RBI and five runs scored. She was 3-for-3 with two home runs, three RBI and four runs scored in the 10-2 victory. She is currently on an eight-game hitting streak and is tied for second in the PacWest in hits (30).

Designated player/third baseman Bailey Gaspar claimed last week’s Newcomer of the Week honors. Against Notre Dame de Namur, she hit .600 (6-10) with two doubles, two walks and four RBI. She went 4-for-4 with two RBI in the series opener.

The week before shortstop Victoria Garcia claimed the same honor batting .615 (8-13) with three doubles, four RBI and six runs scored in a series sweep of Brigham Young University-Hawaii.

• Wednesday’s men’s and women’s 9 a.m. tennis matches between the University of Hawaii at Hilo and Brigham Young University-Hawaii have been moved from Hilo to the Holua Tennis Courts in Keauhou.
