No brush fires were reported in recent days in West Hawaii following a string of blazes that began Feb. 11, according to fire officials.

A number of brush fires that started in the area of Highway 190 between Kailua-Kona and Waimea are being investigated as arson by the Hawaii Police Department. The blazes consumed more than 1,100 acres of state and federal land.

All brush fires were extinguished, Hawaii Fire Department West Hawaii Battalion Chief Darwin Okinaka added.

Police, fire and U.S. Army officials urge the public to report any suspicious activity in the area to police by calling 935-3311.
