Jonathan Charbonneau scored 21 points Thursday night as Honokaa went on the road and beat Pahoa 33-30, clinching an automatic berth to the HHSAA Division II basketball tournament.

The Dragons (8-4) hadn’t been to states since 2007. As the the top seed at the BIIF tournament, Honokaa will search for its first league title since 2001. The Dragons will face either the Daggers or St. Joseph in the semifinals Feb. 12 at Hilo Civic.

Keinan Agonias scored 15 points for Pahoa (5-6). The Daggers still can earn the No. 2 seed at BIIFs with a win Saturday at Hawaii Prep, which would set up a rematch in the semifinals. If Pahoa loses, it would face Honokaa in the semifinals.

Waiakea 76, Kohala 65: The Warriors wrapped up an undefeated season in Kapaau behind 19 points from Noah Ferreira. Calvin Mattos also chipped in 15 points and grabbed five rebounds as Waiakea secured an automatic berth to the HHSAA Division I tournament.

The top-seeded Warriors will play Hilo in BIIF semifinals on Feb. 12.

Chance Pang had 16 points for Kohala, but with the loss, the Cowboys finished 4-8 and will miss the playoffs.

Konawaena 65, Ka‘u 16: The Wildcats (11-1) used double-figure contributions from Kupono Kane (15 points), Hauoli Akau (12) and Paka Cacoulidis (10) to down the visiting Trojans.

Konawaena will be the No. 2 seed in the Division I playoffs and will take on Kamehameha
