On Wednesday (Jan. 27), the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory will present “How Communities Protect Themselves from Vog,” one of the observatory’s Volcano Awareness Month events.

On Wednesday (Jan. 27), the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory will present “How Communities Protect Themselves from Vog,” one of the observatory’s Volcano Awareness Month events.

HVO scientist Tamar Elias and Durham University researcher Claire Horwell will provide an update about Kilauea volcanic gas emissions and vog and share results from a study about vog perception and protection in Hawaii island communities.

The talk begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Ocean View Community Center, 92-8924 Leilani Circle, in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates. The event is free.
