Police say human remains were discovered Saturday in Puna and foul play is suspected.

The remains were discovered on Beach Road off Makuu Drive in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision.

Due to the advanced state of decomposition, neither an identity nor a gender could be readily determined.

The case is currently classified as a coroner’s inquest and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine the exact cause of death.
