The Cardinals jumped out to a 26-10 lead at halftime to win their second in a row and even their record at 3-3.

The slumping Cougars (1-6) suffered another blow to their Division I playoff hopes, moving a full two games behind fourth-place Kealakehe. Kirk Imai scored 16 points and Rico Handy had nine for Keaau, which has lost six in a row.

Keaau won the JV game 56-35.

Girls

Waiakea 58, Ka’u 28: Madison Hwang led all scorers in Pahala with 19 points and Elyse Hasegawa had 11 for the Warriors (4-4), who strengthened their grip on the final playoff spot in Division I.

Analei Emmsley and Reishalyn Kekoa each scored eight for the Trojans (2-7).

Waiakea won the JV game 62-21.
