Isaac Liu

Isaac Liu

Sport: basketball

The performance: Liu, a Hilo High sophomore, scored 13 points last Wednesday in a narrow loss to Kamehameha – but that’s not why he’s the last person to fill this space in 2015.

No, Liu is honored for an electrifying 40-point performance a few nights earlier at Honokaa in which he coaxed the Vikings to a 78-72 comeback victory on the road.

He scored 20 points in the second quarter to get Hilo going, and he closed with 14 in the fourth to finish the Dragons off.

From playing in the post to taking his man off the dribble to handing the point guard duties, Liu took the game over.
