At 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, 31-year-old Kallen Imade of Mountain View was charged with manslaughter. His bail was set at $250,000.

Imade is being held at the Hilo police cellblock until his initial court appearance today.

At 11:30 p.m. Saturday), officers responded to a report of an unconscious man in a parking lot on the 100 block of Hema Street. Witnesses reported that the victim had been involved in an affray with another man and that the other man had left the area.

The victim, 49-year-old Alfred Vea of Hilo, was taken to Hilo Medical Center with a head injury and later transferred to The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu in critical condition. He died on Wednesday, and an autopsy is scheduled for today.
