Police are seeking for the public’s help in locating a man they described as “armed and dangerous,” who is wanted for allegedly threatening a family member with a firearm.

In response to a 5:38 p.m. call Monday to the 18-1700 block of Ihope Road in Mountain View, officers learned that 59-year-old Mark Scott Silva had gone to the home of his estranged wife and reportedly threatened a 20-year-old woman with a handgun.

According to police, he then fled on foot into a heavily forested area.

Silva is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-5, 150 pounds with hazel eyes, short gray hair and tattoos on both arms. He may have a goatee. He was last seen wearing black pants and a black T-shirt. He has no permanent address but frequents the Puna area.

Police caution the public not to approach him, as he is considered armed and dangerous. Instead, anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the police non-emergency line at 935-3311. Those who prefer anonymity may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
