The generous donation was made possible by the contributions of employees — matched by the company — who supported and participated in the annual Aloha Run, an activity within the company’s Winners’ Circle incentive that honored company top sales performers and sales supporting individuals.
“Giving back to the communities where SAP employees live and work is part of our company DNA,” said Robert Enslin, SAP executive board member and Aloha Run sponsor.
“Nothing gives us more pleasure than to thank our hosting Hawaii community and provide a donation that will support much-needed opportunities for Big Island youth,” Enslin said.
In addition, Boys and Girls Club members participated in a special activity with SAP CEO Bill McDermott along with world-class celebrity golfers, World Cup soccer players and other athletes at the Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii resort on the Kohala Coast.
McDermott and the athletes encouraged and motivated the youths by demonstrating how optimism, hard work and exceptional team performance can set them on the path to success.
Asked what he learned after listening to and talking with these role models, one 9-year-old BGCBI member said, “I learned to be myself and work hard to make my dreams come true.”
