Police arrested a former Sears employee for allegedly stealing more than $20,000 in merchandise from the department store’s Hilo warehouse.

Roland Kaanohiokala Kealoha turned himself in Monday to the Pahoa police station, according to the police arrest log. The 33-year-old Hilo man was charged with first-degree theft, a Class B felony punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment, and released after posting $5,000 bail.

According to a felony information complaint filed by prosecutors Aug. 20, Kealoha stole the merchandise between Dec. 4, 2012, and March 13, 2013.

A police spokeswoman said in an email Kealoha allegedly sold the merchandise taken from the Leilani Street warehouse. She couldn’t provide the actual value of the goods nor a description of what allegedly was taken.
