Police have charged a man for allegedly driving at a police officer and sheriff’s deputies attempting to serve an arrest warrant for probation revocation Thursday (August 20), at a Mauna Lani Tract Road home in Mountain View.

Jomal Gin Ford, 37, of Mountain View, was charged with four counts of attepted first-detree murder, plus resisting an order to stop

His bail was set at $2,001,000, and his initial court appearance is Monday.

According to police, the charges stem from Ford attempting to run over two deputies and a police officer. The fourth attempted murder charge is because Ford allegedly tried to kill more than one person.

An officer and one of of the deputies fired shots at the vehicle, and at least one bullet struck Ford, police said.

Ford was initially taken to Hilo Medical Center for a gunshot wound, but was released late Thursday night. He is being held at the Hilo police cellblock until his arraignment.

A deputy allegedly struck by Ford’s vehicle was also treated at Hilo Medical Center and released late Thursday night.
