Tables set up outside of the the Hawaii County Council chambers display food sustainability, recycling and farming ideas and methods during the Hawaiian Kingdom Restoration Day celebration Friday at the County Building. The event was aimed to educate Hawaii residents on self-reliance, sustainability and independence. The state recently declared July 31 “La Hoihoi Ea,” or Restoration Day, in recognition of the day in 1843 that independence was restored to the Kingdom of Hawaii.
